A Solution For The Labels That Limit Moms...(i.e. SAHM, WOHM,WAHM)

Today's solution is not a so much a tangible solution, but more a solution for your marketability (and your self-esteem)

It seems like they are three options for us moms these days. You're either working outside of the home, a work-at-home-mom or a stay-at-home-mom.

And that last "title" really irks me.  It just doesn't get the respect it deserves. (And lip service doesn't count)

And when moms who have chosen to "stay at home" try to re-enter the workforce -- UGH...don't get me started on how hard that is!

Well, leave it to  Amy Tiemann of  Mojo Mom to be at the forefront of promoting a new label for moms -- one that describes our capabilities and our situation in a very empowering way.

Recently Amy was on The CBS Early Show talking about how employers can get the help they need by hiring "S.W.A.T. Moms"

What are "SWAT Moms?"

Are those the winds of change I hear?

Oh yeah sister! Take this label and wear it proudly.

This is the start of something big! A step toward fashioning the workplace to suit the needs of the family.

Sarah, thanks for the shout-out. It comes at an ironically appropriate time. I am writing a completely updated version of "Mojo Mom" and I am trying to avoid using the old labels (SAHM etc.) as I go along. I really like the term SWAT mom (coined by Donnabeth Leffler, to give credit where credit is due) though once I was mistaken for a member of a police SWAT team -- one credential I definitely DON'T have.
