A Counter-Intuitive Solution for babies who bite while breastfeeding
Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 05:05PM The typical advice that I have read for when babies or toddlers start biting mom while breastfeeding, is to break the babies suction by inserting your finger a little bit into his or her mouth, pulling her away and then saying "no biting." Eventually, they will get the message that if they bite during nursing, the food stops.
I learned another techinque, which is a little less disruptive and intrusive, especially if you are in a public place. This will only work if you can control the urge to jump when your child bites you (usually they don't bite very hard...). Instead of taking them off the breast, hold them closer. Just for a few seconds, hold them closer and cover their nose with your breast. They'll get uncomforable and wiggle around to breathe again, meanwhile relaxing their bite. You can also then tell them "no biting." Babies don't really understand the word "no" yet, so this method is another way of showing them that when they bite, they become uncomforable.
Well...It worked for me :)!

I love sharing my quick and easy crockpot recipes with other busy people, helping them to have stress free dinner time. The crockpot is perfect; throw a few ingredients together in the morning and come home to a healthy home cooked meal.
Please browse my site for a solution to the number one question - "Mom, what's for dinner?"

Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing your solutions with us, I wish more moms would feel free to do the same!
I also love the slow cooker. As we eat a mostly vegetarian/vegan diet, I've found it hard to find vegetarian and vegan crockpot recipes so I've gathered the best vegetarian and vegan crockpot cookbooks right here in my Amazon Store. You can see them here:

Also, just this morning I ordered Elizabeth Yarnell's Glorious One Pot cooking, which supposedly uses a dutch oven to make easy one-pot meals but where all of the flavors stay seperate, and each of the food retain their shape and texture...I can't wait to try it...I'll let you all know how it goes!
