A Great Solution To Get Kids Spending, Saving & Sharing!

How many times have you heard "Mommy, I want..." or "Mommy, will you buy me this toy PLEASE?" in the past week?

Lots I bet! I know I have. My kids seem to want a new toy everyday!

Teaching good money skills in our consumer-goods-driven society can be a real challenge -- but I've found a great product to make it  a little easier.

It's a colorful bank divided into 3 sections. The sections are labled spending, saving and sharing.  Now, when you give allowance, you can be sure that your child won't spend it all, but will save some and reserve a portion of it to give to charity. This bank is so simple it could be used with a child as young as four or five! It's never to early to start learning good money habits! (And yes, it's quite affordable too!)

Check it out at http://www.moonjar.com

 Enjoy!

Hi, Just wanted you to know that I think this is a great blog with wonderful ideas. I pitched it on my recent post (something about nervous breakdowns, seriously) and put it on a sidebar. Best of luck, Therapy Doc.

I NEED to get that moonjar! My kids have serious "buy me, buy me" issues and I'm at my wit's end. Great suggestion!

What a great idea! We've been trying to teach our 4-year-old daughter about the value of money and the concepts of earning and spending versus saving and this would be a great learning tool.

I love this site. Sometimes I feel like I get more out of blogging and connecting with other bloggers than I give. I love the idea of a 3way piggy bank of sorts. Spend, save, tithe. Never too young to teach the right way to handle money. Thanks!
